Today: UEFISCDI Hosts International Conference on Rethinking Research Assessment in Bucharest 1024 555 Open and Universal Science (OPUS) Project

The Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development, and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI), in collaboration with the Open and Universal Science (OPUS) project, Science Europe, the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA), and the UNESCO Chair on Science and Innovation Policies, is hosting the internationalΒ Rethinking Research AssessmentΒ conference today (on November 14, 2024 at 9:00 CET), at the Central University Library Carol I in Bucharest. The event will also be streamed online here.

The conference will tackle the pressing need to innovate research assessment systems, offering a multidimensional approach by examining the perspectives of policymakers, researchers, and organisations. With the global landscape of research assessment undergoing transformative changes, the event will emphasise principles such as quality, transparency, and societal impact over traditional metrics.

For the first time in Romania, we approach research assessment through three lenses:

Explore the challenges and strategies involved in aligning institutional practices with global standards.

Key sessions will explore topics like policies for research assessment, reforms from the researchers’ viewpoint, and case studies from institutions worldwide. Speakers include Adrian Curaj (Director-General, UEFISCDI), Gareth O’Neill (Technopolis Group, OPUS Project), and Lidia Borell-Damian (Secretary-General, Science Europe). The event promises insightful discussions, innovative research assessment strategies, and shared experiences from organisations like the European Commission, CNRS, and NWO.
